Maintaining Positive Momentum in the U.S.-ROK Alliance

Following the U.S.-ROK Summit in May, the NCAFP hosted a U.S.-ROK conference. Experts discussed the transformation of the ROK over the past 70 years and the evolution of the U.S.-ROK alliance. The participants examined the future of alliance policy and potential areas of cooperation with other partners to manage regional hot spots and tackle global challenges.

Some of the major takeaways from the dialogue include:

• The U.S. and ROK should further deepen institutional cooperation to ensure the continuation of progress achieved under the Biden and Yoon administrations.
• The U.S. and ROK should address policy gaps with respect to China and North Korea.
