Korean Peninsula Specialists

This hybrid workshop provides professional development support and mentorship opportunities for rising scholars focused on issues related to Korean Peninsula security studies. The program is designed to help emerging academics translate their research ideas into policy recommendations, and to develop public communications skills. Throughout the workshop, participants attend a series of virtual and in-person roundtables before ultimately publishing a policy paper and podcast episode with Asia-Pacific program director, Susan Thornton. The goal of such a workshop is to build relationships among peers working on relevant security issues and to provide practical tools and exposure to senior-level mentors in the policy field.

Past emerging leaders have come from all over the globe, including the U.S., China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Italy, Germany, India, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, and others.
