Shaping the Future of Security on the Korean Peninsula: Next-Generation Policy Perspectives

With a political crisis in South Korea, North Korea implicated in the Ukraine war, tense cross-Taiwan Strait relations, and a second Trump administration in the U.S., 2025 is set to be marked with many challenges both in the Korean Peninsula and in the broader Asia Pacific. Without careful management of relationships and geopolitical tensions, these interconnected issues could spiral into larger regional conflicts. The discussion featured our 2024 cohort of next-generation Korean Peninsula specialists. They shared their insights and policy recommendations for the U.S. and South Korean governments on how to address these challenges facing the Korean Peninsula.

In 2024, the NCAFP organized its third cohort of next-generation Korean Peninsula specialists from all over the world to share their insights on challenges on the Korean Peninsula. These young policy professionals and scholars spent the last nine months networking with their peers, meeting with mentors, participating in professional development workshops, and writing policy papers on key issues related to Korean Peninsula security.
